Windows XP Service Pack 3 Delayed

Microsoft has delayed the release of the next Service Pack for Windows XP until 2008.

Service Pack 3 (SP3) was due to be released in 2007 but has now been pushed back to the first half of 2008.

SP3 will include updates for Windows and security fixes.

SP2 for Windows XP was similarly delayed and eventually released in August 2004.

Meanwhile Microsoft is preparing its next operating system Windows Vista for general release in January 2007.
