Worm Spreads In Presidential Deaths Hoax

Wednesday 8 November 2006

E-mail spam is circulating using claims of the deaths of Presidents Bush and Putin to spread a worm virus.

The subject line varies but includes attention-grabbing phrases such as 'White house news!' or 'Incredible News!'.

The text of the message tells users to open attached files to read about the deaths of Presidents Bush and Putin and the start of a nuclear war.

However the attached files are executables which when run disable the Windows firewall, and allow external hackers to gain access to the PC.

Most recipients should realise that the e-mail is fake due to the outlandish headlines. If you receive the e-mail you are advised not to open the attached files and instead to delete the e-mail.
