Christmas Spam Campaign Targets Parents
Wednesday 22 November 2006
A new spam e-mail campaign is targeting parents by promising to send their children a letter from Santa.
According to security experts Sophos, spammers are attempting to get hold of legitimate e-mail addresses by promising that anyone who replies will get a Christmas letter from the North Pole.

The email also tries another technique to capture your address by saying you should also get in touch if you received the email in error.
Any response to the e-mail simply confirms to spammers that it is a valid e-mail address they can send messages to in the future.
Recipients are advised not to respond to e-mails like these and just to delete them.
