New Online Project To Protect Children

Sunday 26 November 2006

Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Canada have joined forces with Cybertip.ca in a project to combat child exploitation on the Web.

ISPs involved in Project Cleanfeed Canada will use filters to block access to exploitative images of children.

The project also involves the Cybertip.ca web site, which allows people to report abuse and gives information about keeping children safe while on the Internet.

The project is named after a similar initiative launched in the UK by British Telecom (BT). The program by BT was so successful it was adopted by several other ISPs across Europe.

Cybertip.ca has helped shut down over a thousand web sites containing illegal content and its actions have lead to a number of arrests.
