Time To Celebrate Blogging

Sunday 17 December 2006

US magazine Time has praised web users for the growth of user-generated content such as blogs and videos on the Internet this year.

In the magazine's Person of the Year award, Time magazine named "You" (the public) as the winner, for taking advantage of the power of the Web to give opinions and contribute news, images and videos.

The magazine wanted to highlight the fact that rather than an individual making big changes to the way we think and view the world, this year it has been the general public who have done the most by adding to sites such as Wikipedia, YouTube, Facebook, and MySpace.

Time has also praised the Web itself for giving people across the globe the chance to get themselves heard and make a difference.
