Spam E-mails Offer Cheap Windows Vista
Tuesday 19 December 2006
A spam campaign claims to offer a cut-price version of the new Windows Vista operating system from Microsoft.
Security experts Sophos identified the messages, which claim the recipient can save $319.05 if they download Windows Vista by typing a certain web address into their browser.

The e-mails take advantage of the fact that by embedding the message in an image rather than normal text, it is harder for spam filters to detect.
Users are recommended never to reply or act on spam messages such as these.
Windows Vista will be available officially for home users at the end of January 2007.
