Google Desktop 5 Beta Now Available

Google has launched a new version of its Desktop application, featuring new tools to make it easy to search files on a user's PC.

Google Desktop 5 Beta is the latest version of Google's free desktop tool and features a new sidebar and redesigned Gadgets (add-ons such as news and calendars).

Google have also improved the Desktop Search function so that it now displays a preview of any file listed in search results, making it easier to find the right file.

Security has also been improved, with a warning message if the user tries to click a link or visit a page which might try to steal their information.
