A survey has shown that PC users do not do enough to protect their personal information online, including reusing the same few passwords.
The survey by security experts at Kaspersky Lab showed that 51% of web users use the same 1-4 passwords to access all their online accounts.

Also at risk are users of social networking sites like MySpace who freely disclose information that is often used as unique identifiers when registering accounts – such as a pet name, mother’s maiden name, or nickname.
Meanwhile, research by Gartner shows the number of victims of identity theft has increased by more than 50% since 2003.
Users are recommended to use different passwords for different accounts, and to select passwords that are harder for malicious attackers to guess - such as a combination of letters and numbers.
