Microsoft Patches Cursor Vulnerability

Wednesday 4 April 2007

Microsoft has released an update to fix a security flaw in Windows relating to its handling of animated cursor (.ani) files.

Microsoft usually issues Windows updates on the second Tuesday of each month, but has made an exception due to the seriousness of this vulnerability, which could allow an attacker to take over a user's PC.

Malicious web sites and e-mail attachments have already been found that are taking advantage of this flaw.

All Windows users are advised to visit www.windowsupdate.com to make sure they have this latest update.
