iPhone Joins Latest Spam And Web Threats
Monday 2 July 2007
New spam and web-based threats continued to appear in June, with the latest spam campaigns claiming to offer new browser features or even a brand new iPhone.
A new spam e-mail claims the recipient has won a brand new iPhone, but really contains a link to install malicious software.
According to security experts at Sophos, the current top web threat is the malware Iframe, which injects malicious code onto web pages, and accounts for nearly two thirds of the world's infected web pages.
Hackers have also embedded the Iframe malware into emails.
The top e-mail hoax is still the Hotmail hoax, which encourages users to forward the message to at least 10 other users or risk losing their Hotmail accounts.
Users should make sure their anti-virus software is up to date, and avoid opening suspicious e-mails with attachments or clicking links in unsolicited messages.
