Norton Update Blocks AOL Web Access

Sunday 19 March 2006

A security update for Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus has prevented some AOL users from connecting to the Internet.

The March 15 LiveUpdate incorrectly detected parts of the AOL connection as a security risk and blocked internet access for AOL users who had updated.

Symantec, the makers of Norton security software, have released an update to fix the problem. More information and instructions for updating can be found on the Symantec website.

Users who downloaded the faulty update and now have their web access blocked are advised to disable their Norton software first, then connect to the Internet and download the fixed update.
