Report Reveals Worst Spamming Countries

Sunday 23 April 2006

Online security experts Sophos have released a report listing the 12 countries with the worst record for relaying spam.

The UK is at number 10, responsible for nearly 2% of all global spam e-mails. The US and China are the worst offenders with 45% of all spam coming from these two countries.

This is an improvement for the US who two years ago accounted for over 50% of all spam sent around the world. Experts say home users are taking security more seriously and are taking measures to protect their computers from malicious hackers.

However, more and more viruses and worms are being created which attempt to take over home computers and use them to steal information and send junk e-mail.
