Trojan Horse Program Demands Money

Sunday 30 April 2006

Anti-virus experts Sophos have warned users about a new malicious program that demands money or threatens to wipe data files from your PC.

Dubbed "Ransom-A" by Sophos, this Trojan horse displays some pornographic images and a warning message stating you must pay money to remove the Trojan, or it will begin wiping your files.

Sophos say this kind of malicious program, known as "ransomware", shows how important it is for computer users to make regular backups of data, to protect their computers with up-to-date security software, and to be careful when opening e-mail attachments.
