Dell Recalls Millions Of Laptop Batteries

Dell, the biggest PC manufacturer in the world, is recalling 4.1 million laptop batteries because of a potential fire risk.

There have so far been six incidents of these Sony-made batteries overheating or catching fire.

The batteries were included in the Dell Latitude, Inspiron, XPS and Precision notebook models shipped between April 2004 and July 2006.

Affected batteries will feature the words "DELL" and "Made in Japan" or "Made in China" or "Battery cell made in Japan, Assembled in China" printed on the back.

Dell have set up a web site where you can check if your notebook is at risk and get a replacment battery:
