Browzar Privacy Tool Criticised

Sunday 3 September 2006

A new web browser tool offering better privacy while you surf has been criticised by computer experts.

Browzar is a free tool that promises not to leave any history of the user's browsing activities and to remove any personal details entered in forms.

However, computer experts have attacked the software, with some labelling it 'adware'.

Browzar's default home page and search facility was found to give a large number of sponsored links and adverts rather than genuine results.

Most search engines such as Google keep paid-for links separate from genuine search results, but Browzar does not.

Some experts also claim that the promise of leaving no trace of browsing history is not true, and that the software is no safer than other browsers.

The developers have promised to examine these claims and make changes to their web site to address these concerns.
