I couldn't find the exact error message you mentioned, however I did find one that is very similar - "The Service Profile is damaged. Reinstall the service profile".
According to another website : "Service profile error usually is connected to a corrupted ISP software (most likely MSN, or AOL). It'll also happen when you tried to remove MSN, or AOL incorrect way - not using Add\Remove). Another possibilty is that the AOL tray is being loaded at startup."
Did you used to have AOL or MSN? Go to Control Panel then Add\Remove programs. Select AOL or MSN if they appear there and click Remove.
Make sure the AOL tray icon is removed:
"Remove the AOL Tray from the startup group by following these steps:
Click the Start button, then choose Programs \ Startup.
Right-click the AOL Tray and choose Delete"
(from http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/win98/t1004625023)
If you still have problems, you may need to try re-installing your Freeserve Anytime internet software (do you have a CD to reinstall it from?).
There are more things to try mentioned on another website http://www.cyberbeach.net/~shilo/sp.html, but these are a bit more complicated so try the above steps first.
