Windows Genuine Advantage

Hi Does anyone know what this Genuine Advantage thing I sometimes get with Windows Updates? What is it for?

Thanks

It checks whether your Windows is legit or an illegal pirated version.

You should be fine unless you have a dodgy version of Windows downloaded from the Internet or from a copied CD. Then it will nag you to buy a proper licensed version of Windows, and probably won't let you download any updates either.

Some people complain about it but as long as you're using a genuine version of Windows (ie. you bought it from a shop or it came pre-installed on your PC) it shouldn't really affect you.
