Words are difficult to read

Hello

When I look at certain websites on my computer, the words can be hard to read because they are too small is there a way I can make them bigger?
thanks

Hi, welcome to the site

If you are using Internet Explorer, click on the 'View' menu at the top of your screen, and where it says 'Text Size', try selecting Larger or Largest. This should make most of the text larger and easier to read, but this might not always work with all the text you see on a website.

There are some other things you can try which may change the size of the text in Internet Explorer, and also on your Desktop and in other programs you use:

Click on your Start menu and go to Control Panel (if you are using Windows XP you may need to be logged on as the main user [administrator] of the PC). Click on 'Appearance and Themes', then 'Display'. Click on the tab that says 'Appearance' and try changing 'Font Size' to Large Fonts or Extra Large Fonts.

Finally, to make everything immediately larger you can try changing your screen resolution. Go to Control Panel, click 'Appearance and Themes', then 'Display' and under the 'Settings' tab you should see a slider with the number of your current screen resolution (eg. 1024*768). Make a note of this number in case you want to put it back to this setting later.
Click and drag the slider to the left to make the resolution smaller (put it at something like 800*600 or 640*480). The smaller the resolution, the larger everything will become. Click Apply to make these changes, then click Yes if you want to keep these new settings.

I hope this helps you fix your problem :)

Thanks for your reply but I can't find Appearance and Themes anywhere in Control Panel?

You may have your Control Panel set up in 'Classic View' mode. In Windows XP there are two types of view modes for Control Panel, 'Classic' and 'Category'.
On the left of the Control Panel window you should see an option to 'Switch to Category View', click this and you should see various icons including Appearance and Themes.

If you prefer to use Classic view (or you don't have Windows XP), try looking for an icon called 'Display' on this list, this should take you to your display settings.
